For all vain things lay at my feet.
All my friends have embraced the worlds way,
The pull is strong I want to stray.
They laugh and sneer at the standards they once held so high,
I feel so alone as they all pass me by.
My heart is heavy and I am spiritually weak,
This narrow path I walk is no easy feat.
All those who said they would do it Your way,
Are one by one falling away.
Oh God be with me, oh please draw me near,
My wicked heart is filling with fear.
I am afraid I will wander like all your other sheep,
The very thought of it causes me to weep.
I know so many little ones are watching every move I make,
Oh Lord help me stay true if only for their sake.
There is a Hymn that says it so much better than I
"Tho' none go with me I still will follow
no turning back no turning back."

McKenzie, what a beatiful poem! I couldn't believe you wrote it--I thought it would be by someone famous!
Your words are so sweet, and I know God heard your prayer. Believe me, I have been there before (as in yesterday!) and it can be very discouraging! That's why I'm so encouraged to find other girls like you, even if only through blogs. =)
Blessings from another follower of Christ,

Hang in there, McKenzie! They will have so many regrets that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Gal. 6:9
Wow,that is an amazing poem! I've had some struggles before and crying out to God in pray helped me also praying with my mom!

Beautiful poem! You did a wonderful job writing it! It can be hard to follow the Lord wholly when it seems no one else is, but God will give you the strength...He will help you to stand for Him.
I found your blog through "A Simple Farmgirl" blog. You have a beautiful blog, and I look forward to reading more!

Stumbled upon your blog today and discovered this post. Your heart shows through this poem. Hope you will continue to write poetry; not many take the time to communicate this way in your generation.
