I Ripped His Glory...

There's nothing like a little brother to get you laughing in the most unexpected ways...

Often times on Friday nights my mama and daddy will go to town to get shopping done. Last night when I tucked Malachi into bed I told him that he could have his closet light on as long as he was quiet and went straight to sleep. He likes to have both his closet light on and the hallway light on, but last night due to the fact that it was a little past his bedtime, I told him he could only have one light on. Of course he was not very pleased and as soon as I left his room I could hear him fussing to himself. I chose to ignore him and went to my room which is down the hall and started putting sheets on my bed. A few minutes later Maddy came in and told me that he was out of the bed and pouting in the hallway. I was rather frustrated that he was interrupting my work, walked out of the room and rather firmly told him that if he did not get in his bed and go to sleep I was going to turn out all of his lights. Of course he cried and went to his bed. I went back to my room and as I finished making my bed I saw a picture of him on my memory board and I felt sad that I had been harsh. I went back down the hall again and tiptoed into his room to see if he was still awake. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw him peeking at me from under his comforter. I felt so mean... As I sat down on the edge of his bed I told him that Kenzie was sorry she was short with him and would he please forgive me. He slowly raised up on his little elbows and looked at me with the most serious expression. He solemnly nodded his head and said, "I forgive you, but you ripped my glory." I busted out laughing and that offended him more. "I ripped your glory? What are you talking about?" He again very seriously replied, "When you turned my lights off I was trying to read my Bible and you ripped my glory."

Life as an older sister is never dull. There is always something to do, a baby to hold, a meal to fix, a tear to wipe away, or a hug to be given. More than all the responsibilities though, being an older sister has been a privilege. To be able to watch and be a part of these precious lives as they become (Lord Willing) "ballistic missiles for the Kingdom of God" is such a blessing. As you all read above in my story about Malachi, I get tired, I get frustrated, I am no where close to having this "big sister thing" mastered. I do hope though that my siblings are able to learn from my failures and successes.

Hey Mckenzie!
That is funny but what glory did you rip?
Believe it or not but I watch you day in an day out what you do and put it into practice. Of course you are going to be saying," Oh, Dear!" But I do hope to do all the things you do some day.(I mimick the things you do good.)
Keep it up McKenzie I love you....

That is SO sweet!
It's tough when you have those moments when you get upset and your little siblings, even though you may really have a reason to be upset... it still sometimes hard to remember in that moment that they have feelings too! I do the same thing often :(
You sound like an AMAZING big sister!
Thanks for the story :)
