Canning

I have been busy canning scuppernong jelly. I have done lots of canning with my momma, but this is the first time I have done the entire process from picking the fruit to storing the jars by myself!

Our scuppernong vines produce a ton each fall. Every year we eat them fresh and Matthew has sold them some. This year I was determined to make use of them!

My first batch was a struggle to get the juice strained. A sweet lady at my church let me borrow this really neat pot that steams the fruit and drains the juice out for you. Much simpler! My little helper.
Water bath...Such a great feeling when you look at your work!
We have about 20 jars of scuppernong jelly in the pantry now. We have done strawberry, peach and pear this summer too. I did the scuppernong with the low sugar recipe and it is very good.

Hope your week is going well!

I canned my first jar of blueberries about a month ago! Now I am waiting until the middle of winter or so to eat them!!

Go McKenzie for doing it all by yourself!!

Those look great, McKenzie! Homemade jelly is always really good. I've never done any canning before, but I hope to learn how sometime.

Hope that you have a lovely day!
