Each Christmas season my parents look for ministry opportunities for our family to do. This year Momma took some of us to a small nursing home in our area. It rarely gets visitors so the
residents were excited to see us. It took very little effort but brought much joy to the people that were there.
Mariah.... The cards were made with Christmas cards that we received and construction paper. We wrote greetings on the inside of them. One man was a retired minister. When he read "Jesus Loves You" on his card he had tears in his eyes as he nodded and said, "Yes, he does."

The ladies loved Myles and so badly wanted to touch him. He hid behind me with an iron grip on the back of my skirt and just grinned at them:)
Mariah passing out homemade Christmas cookies to some of the residents...

Maddy playing some Christmas carols...

And this is Jim! He has down syndrome and when he was born his parents were told that he would not live past fifteen months. He is now 57!! I absolutely loved him. He liked to hear the piano music and he would often sing along:)

I greatly enjoyed going to the nursing home and I hope to continue to visit with our new friends throughout the year! They were so grateful for everything we did and begged us to come back again.
I cannot tell you how full my heart felt as I left...

Wow. We went Christmas caroling to some residents on Christmas Adam! I could have cried!! I have post in blog about it. Did you see it?
Blessings!
My dad works at an assisted living home, so our family does a church service for them every Sunday before our church, and we did a special one on Christmas Eve. You're right, they are always so appreciative! That is great that ya'll took the time to do that so joyfully for them. What a servant's heart!
Giann--I noticed in your comment you referenced Christmas Adam!! I thought we were the only family who said that! lol!
Leanna - I don't normally...I just realized why they called it that this year. hahaha :)
What is Christmas Adam? Good post McKenzie. After my stay in rehab, I think I would go nuts in a nursing home. See you Sunday, I hope! It's from Gran.
